Bigfoot Screams In Illinois?

Strange Sounds In Shawnee National Forest

If you’re out in the woods enough, especially at night, you’ll hear sounds of animals you may have never heard before. But then again, maybe the animals you’re familiar with are out there making sounds that are uncharacteristic to their species. It’s good to always try to be objective.

I listen to a lot of recordings of animal sounds all the time that are being called Bigfoot sounds. And I can usually equate them to known animals. But every once in a while I hear a recording I’m not quite sure about. This recording of supposed Sasquatch screams in Shawnee National Forest in my home state of Illinois is interesting. Shawnee National Forest is one the most Bigfoot-active parts of my state. One of the comments says it’s definitely a fox or bobcat, but I’m not convinced. The sounds in this recording are much deeper and more guttural than any fox or bobcat I’ve ever heard. And they might just be human, but take a listen and see what you think.

SAMPLE SIGHTING FROM ILLINOIS

LOCATION DETAILS: This is on private land.

NEAREST TOWN: Seneca

NEAREST ROAD: IL Route 6

OBSERVED: The following phone interview was conducted by Stan Courtney. Because the witnesses do not have Internet access, the information was entered with their permission. The first names of the witnesses have been changed.

Tom: I told John about my sighting of the 2nd of June 2005 and he and his son went with me to the location. This was about a week after my first sighting.

Right about 30 feet before the bend in the road I parked my car there and I was showing John where I saw the animal the first time. And we heard some commotion over in the woods and we were looking down into the trees. John was the first one to spot the silhouette and he asked me to come over, I guess my eyesight is a little better, and he said "Hey, what does that look like to you?"

And then that was the time when we both saw its arm move and so I get on the hood of the car and I tried to get a better look 'cause I was going to see if it was either a shadow or three dimensional. I was trying to get looks of it from all angles without losing sight of the thing. It was standing motionless on the back side of a tree and you could see the majority of the body, he wasn't hiding behind a tree he was more leaning against it.

That is when after we noticed the arm movement I'm on top of the hood of the car. Something caught my notice out of the corner of my eye to the right of the silhouette. Out in plain sight, plain as day there was an actual fur bodied, walking, probably 10 to 20 feet away from the silhouette I saw a smaller one and this one was starting to walk where the trees thin out it started to make its way to where the trees get thicker, and just walking.

So at this time, I tell John, "There's another one." And he says, "Where, where?" And I point in the general direction, I jump down off the car and run into the woods after it. It didn't run until I got about 20 feet in, that's when its pace picked up. It brought its elbows real high as it was running. And then I lost sight of it, because I didn't know that the ground actually sloped down. By time I got back to the hill I couldn't see it.

Stan Courtney: Okay, when you started chasing the smaller one what had happened to the bigger one?

Tom: I really couldn't tell you. I made a beeline straight for the one in front of me. John and his son were watching the big one.

Stan: When you first saw the big one and you just saw a silhouette why did you think it was a bigfoot?

Tom: At first I didn't know what to think. If anything it could be a man in a suit. When I saw the second one in the clearing as plain as day, I guess I don't know how to explain it but I just knew it wasn't a man at that time.

Stan: What about the first animal? What did you see?

John: When a truck came down the hill and around the bend the animal turned its head very slowly and smoothly and watched it pass by. Then it slowly turned its head back.

Tom: I didn't see the head turn.

Stan: What about the hand movement?

Tom: Actually we saw the silhouette of the body, and as we were watching this thing the arm comes up as if to touch its face. And then we see the hand go back down. And I mean this was slow motion, it moved up as slow as it went down slow.

Stan: How long did you watch it?

Tom: From the time we saw the silhouette of the big one in the trees till the time I saw the little one was probably five minutes. I remember telling John "We could stand here all day and this thing is going to wait longer than us."

John: I kept looking at the first, larger animal. I concentrated on watching it. When Tom got half-way into the woods I glanced over to see where he and the smaller animal were. When I looked back towards the larger animal it was gone.

ALSO NOTICED: Nothing unusual.

OTHER WITNESSES: Yes, three all together.

OTHER STORIES: No.

TIME AND CONDITIONS: 6:30 p.m. Clear and just beginning to cool down from the heat of the day.

ENVIRONMENT: Marsh and woodland.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator Stan Courtney:

I have visited the site three times with the witnesses and three times later by myself. On my first visit to the site, Tom and I both believed that we were being followed through the woods by a large animal. I visited the site again the next week. John brought along his daughter and all three of us did hear very plainly two vocalizations that sounded like the Ohio howl.

The following descriptions of the animals can be added to the report:

The first animal:
• Was about 8 or 9 feet tall and weighed about 600 pounds.
• Had a stocky build.
• Was dark brown in color, mottled darker than tree bark.
• Had no defined neck.

The second animal:
• Was about 6 feet tall and weighed about 400 pounds.
• Was thinner than the first animal.
• Was darkish red in color.
• Appeared to be pointy headed.
• Had longer arms than a human.
• Appeared to have real powerful forearms.
• Had a pungent smell.
• The witnesses were unable to see any facial features other than a jaw line.

2 Sighting Reports From Kentucky  

Carter County, Kentucky

These two bigfoot sighting reports come out of Carter County Kentucky. The reports were given to us by Tabatha Steagall and they are of her personal sightings. This is her written account of what she saw.

- Sighting Report 1 -
"My shortest sighting happened when I was a teenager in the late 90's. Not sure the exact date. I was throwing out scraps to the horses after dinner, I was standing by the fence, in the field about 40 or 50 foot away stood a big man looking thing, it looked like a Neanderthal. I actually spent years thinking it was a ghost of a Neanderthal! I promise I'm not nuts! But after watching the Finding Bigfoot show for a season or two it just dawned on me that it was probably and more likely a bigfoot! It was huge, terrifyingly huge. I couldn't make out much about it and didn't stick around to either. All I could see was that it was dark in color, there was only moon light to see by.
It stood perfectly still didn't move at all. I don't even know if I was looking at the back side or the front. I did see hair that fell in different layers around its head and kind of flared outwards. I don't know how I even seen that much but that is the one thing I did see. My dad went to find it when I came back in and told my family, but it was gone. Didn't really put much thought into it other than it was ghost. Not even when I seen the real deal around the same time."

-Sighting Report 2 -
"In February of 1998 we had a huge ice storm. I remember it so well because my sister had got hit by a car on Feb 2nd (and only suffered a hurt leg thankfully), and the storm came late that night. We lost power for 6 days. Everything we had in the deep freezer went bad and my Dad had sacked it up and put it outside by the gas tank to throw out later.
We had to cook out with a grill to feed my family & my Mamaw & Papaw all week (I think the smell may have drawn him in, but anyways).
The night the electric came on me and my dad were watching TV and the porch light was on. I glanced at the window and seen what looked like a man carrying our bag of meat. And that’s when I screamed "some man is stealing our rotted meat". I seen it run up the steps and it had black hairy legs. I could see that the hair was attached to the body as it moved, if that makes any sense! I don't know if I would say I seen the muscles but more so like it wasn't saggy.
Anyways, the porch light didn't light up the whole steps, so it was gone out of sight pretty quickly. My dad and me jumped up and we could hear it crashing through the woods about 15 or so feet up into the woods, and then it was silent, I'm assuming it jumped a fence and went into the neighbors cow field where it would make less noise while making its escape.
And the next morning my dad found the bag and the meat was gone, but the butter and the fries were still in the bag. My dad said that the bag wasn't opened like an animal chewed it but more like a person would open it.
I always wondered why it came so close to the house, but after watching Finding Bigfoot I learned that they don't like to leave tracks, and where the water came off the roof there was no snow, but up higher in the yard there was still snow. I don't remember looking that good for tracks then, just around the house, too bad I didn't have the knowledge I have today, but at least I seen it. I feel pretty lucky to have seen what I have seen, but I don't know if luck has anything to do with it when you live in Grahn! I think we are surrounded by them.”

Thunderbird Seen in Iowa?  

This is a recent report sent to me, I have withheld the last name and included a map of the general area. -Tom

Time of Day: around 3 pm
Nearest Town: Keosauqua
Length of Sighting: about 15 minutes

Describe sighting in detail:
I truly believe Thunderbirds are migrating up and down the Des Moines River in Iowa. I am an experienced bird watcher and have a trained eye for detail and have seen over 300 species in my county. In December 2006, 2 big birds were seen by bridge construction workers and she described them as very dark with some white on the wings and were twice as big as a bald eagle and I tried convincing a woman that they were golden eagles but she quickly said no as she was very familiar with eagles. However sometime after that she changed them to the golden eagle. I watched for them but no luck.

However, on July 4,2008 I was fishing on the other side of the river from Keosauqua during the afternoon and I saw a large dark bird flapping with hard and deep beats for a long distance down the river and I thought an osprey or bald eagle because of the long crooked wings when it glided for a short distance. I watched it with my 16x50 binoculars as it flew down the river and it started soaring around in circles and to my surprise was a turkey vulture but it was different. It resembled a turkey vulture but it had a large head not small head, broader tail and much broader wings but it had the silvery wing feathers. Its flight pattern was different and it must have been a heavy bird with all the deep flapping. A turkey vulture rarely does and soars more and when they glide they hold their wings in a V and this bird glided with crooked wings as I mistook it for an osprey which are rare here in summer but bald eagles are nesting along this river. I didn't have a camera and only binoculars. I was fishing with 3 other guys but they didn't pay much attention to it.

A large bird was sighted recently in Illinois resembled a turkey vulture but it was different. It resembled a turkey vulture but it had a large head not small head, broader tail and much broader wings but it had the silvery wing feathers. Its flight pattern was different and it must have been a heavy bird with all the deep flapping. A large bird was sighted recently in Illinois resembled a turkey vulture but twice as big.
A large black bird was reported in Central Iowa around the same time as the big birds down here on December 13,2007. I am very confident that the bird I saw was no ordinary turkey vulture. There is an Indian thunderbird symbol in Lacey-Keosauqua State Park.

Does The Loch Ness Monster Really Exist?

  Most of us in the bigfoot world believe in the creature because there’s enough evidence floating around out there to give us good reasons. Hundreds of researchers around North America and around the world are collecting evidence nearly every day, listening to hundreds of stories and filing reports. It’s enough of a constant cycle of sightings and reports to at least give all of us reason to believe we need to examine the subject further. Bigfoot gets a lot of attention because he’s earned it. He keeps popping up in lots of places around the world and holding everyone’s interest. But when you look at Facebook pages and websites dedicated to The Loch Ness Monster, there doesn’t seem to be so much activity; one recent report and photo among a few other scattered sightings over the course of time.
No volume even close to the number of bigfoot and yeti reports around the world.

So does The Loch Ness Monster, aka Nessie in Scotland warrant the same attention and emotional investment from researchers and locals there? Does it really exist? I just had to ask our favorite cryptid hunter, Adam Davies, the guy who’s actually been there and done the work to look for Nessie and worked with National Geographic, Monster Quest, and Finding Bigfoot, what his thoughts are on the subject. He knows lake monsters exist. He’s actually seen one. And even though it’s a really hard thing in the cryptid world for a cryptid researcher to say he doesn’t think a certain cryptid exists, Adam seemed pretty comfortable saying it’s his opinion that Nessie doesn’t exist, and he explains why:
“I know Lake Monsters exist. Importantly, so do credible scientists. In 1999, I was part of a team which used a hydrophone to prove the existence of Selma, the Norwegian version of Nessie. You could clearly hear the animals seemingly communicating with one another. So convincing was it that it led the Marine Research Institute in Bergen to conclude we had found an unknown species. Importantly, I also saw it. In Loch Ness a year later, I tried the same approach with the hydrophone. Simply put, apart from fish, there was nothing very interesting registering on our hydrophone. What could it be in the Lake then? Well, to dismiss all the accounts as floating logs, wakes or just lies was incorrect in my opinion. I remember seeing a particularly persuasive account by a Monk who had certainly seen an animal in the water. He described its specific movement through the water. He had certainly seen an animal. What could it be then? Fishermen at Foyers told me they had seen huge eels in the Loch. Large eels would explain the shape of the animal many people were describing, I concluded. I was never a fan of the `sturgeon theory.` I would be delighted to be proved wrong! If anyone does, I will join the queue to shake their hand. However, the only way I can see Nessie actually existing is if it is an infrequent visitor to the Loch.”
[This is in fact exactly my own opinion also. And it does nothing to disprove the FORMER existence of such a creature we call Nessie at Loch Ness.-DD]

But Adam certainly hasn’t lost faith or the inspiration to keep searching for these types of creatures, as he expressed further thoughts about that in his statement: “Fascinatingly though, I heard on several occasions from locals about Loch Morar. One very well known Nessie skeptic suggested that I look there to see my second Lake Monster, as did locals. With its clear waters, and without the tourist focus of Loch Ness, it has a real appeal. If there is a Lake Monster in Britain this is the best place to search. I know Lake Monsters exist…” So is it possible we all just caught a glimpse into where Adam’s headed next? He wouldn’t say, so who knows? But Loch Morar, also in Scotland, may be the future hot spot to watch for lake monsters. Stay tuned.

And why should they be? the notion of monsters inhabiting a specific geographic area is only a continuance of the notion that cetain areas are haunted by spirits. Eastern Bigfoot and Iceman

Jay Cooney just sent me this comparison of images via email. This compares the Iceman as viewed  by Sanderson and Heuvelmans to a photograph allegedly showing a Bigfoot and posted on the Crypto Crew's website. I later received the comment from him that he thought it was an interesting comparison but he thought it was more likely a trick of the shadows

Is this a photo of a dead yowie? I know this has been around a little while but I have not seen much said about it.
Here is about all I know about it

Now is this big pile of hair a Yowie? I would guess it's not. If I remember correctly this was first posted on the bigfoot forums. I think this was first around in 2009 but not sure.

Pretty interesting ....would like to know for sure what it really is.

This could be just about anything since all it looks like is a wad of raggedy hair. HOWEVER one creature which naturally has the look of a wad of raggedy hair is the orangutan. See Royalty-free stock image below:

Some Orangutans do have rather that yellowy-brown colouring, or it could be somewhat bleached out by the sun after death. And it seems as if you can see the long arm of an orangutan with the hand balled into a fist at the front of this photo, and possibly the head slumped over at right on top obscured by hair, presuming it is still in a seated position.

This is only one suggestion and any other suggestions are welcome.
