Administrative Notice

This blog has been hacked and I have not been able to add anything or edit it for most of the calendar year 2014. Nor have I been able to get into the comments to read them or approve them. Most of the comments have all been wiped in my absence.

We can just say I've been on Sabbatical since I started writing on most of these subjects in Yahoo discussion groups and that was at least seven years ago.

If I can get the blogs going again I shall be doing extensive editing of older posts and rewriting. Currently the blogs are being run on Facebook. I shall have to see if I can get the regular blogs on blogger back under control again.

My readers are still in there and showing much support. I am grateful for that part
Thank you.

PS. I checked and this blog had two unreleased drafts on backlog. Both had been wiped when I went back to see if they were salvageable.

PPS. It has become necessary for me to make the blanket statement once again that as a news service I cannot be held personally responsible for the opinions expressed by others as reprinted on this blog. That is the standard situation. For some reason my harshest critics have managed to miss the point that this is the standard situation when they criticize me personally for the statements and  opinions of others as expressed on this blog.  For the record, Darren Naish, Cameron McCormack, Loren Coleman, Dick Raynor, Karl Shuker and several others have all done that when mentioning me or this blog during public discussions. They really should have known better than that.

Administrative Notice

Unfortunately there have been technical problems on this blog. I was not allowed on to do anything for a long time and all of the interim comments were accidently wiped. It could not be helped and I apologise for any inconvenience this caused, it was out of my hands.

Administrative Notice

Technical problems at Blogger have been preventing the release of any new blog articles again. I have just managed to push a couple through but it looks as though the Blogger is not cooperating once again, since I am getting error messages both when I am signing into the account and when I try to publish anything.

I shall still keep on trying but I should let everybody know, there is no guarantee that I will ever see any of the comments that were made while my Blogger account was not working. Sorry.

Administrative Notice

Currently and for a long period prior to this, both Benny and I have both been kept from adding any new photos to the blogs but we can cut and paste. Benny has a large stockpile of unpublished material but I am afraid this greatly hampers my ability to do any original work on Blogger for the time being.

Administrative Notice

This blog has now been off of the internet for several weeks running while I was in a location without internet access. This blog has been on hiatus for that length of time. Comments have not been available for this interval. I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused to my readers.

Tote-Up Review

The following is my assessment of some of the Cryptid categories as given in the basic standard Cryptozoology. * indicates a category I consider to be of interest and a potential new species not catalogued by science, and the categories I would strike from the list are also indicated.  To make it easier to read I have also colour-coded it and purple indicates the Cryptid categories, black background and red print indicates the ones I would drop out

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Bernard Heuvelmans Sea Serpents:

*Long Necked A 30-60-foot (9-18 m), long-necked, Plesiosaur-shaped Cosmopolitan animal.
*"Megalotaria" an uncatalogued Walrus-sized sea lion (as a separate spinoff category)

Super Eels: A group of large and possibly unrelated eel-shaped fishes.
Partially based on the "Leptocephalus giganteus" larvae (Which includes two unrelated kinds also)
*"Megaloconger" the 30 foot long kind (as a separate spinoff category)
*"Titanoconger" the 60-100 foot (18-30 m) long kind (as a separate spinoff category)

*Marine Saurian: A 50–60-foot (15–18 m) sea crocodile,
*Mosasaur (or Pliosaur) 60-100 foot (18-30m) long (as a separate spinoff category)

VOID CATEGORIES:

Merhorse  A 60-100 foot (18-30 m), medium-necked, large-eyed, horse-headed pinniped. Maned and often has whiskers.

Many-Humped  A 60–100-foot (18–30 m), medium-necked, long-bodied archaeocete. It has a series of humps or a crest on the spine like a sperm whale's

Super Otter A 65–100-foot (18–30 m), medium-necked, long-bodied archaeocete that resembles an otter. It moves in numerous vertical undulations

Many Finned  A 60–100-foot (18–30 m), short necked archeocete. It has a number of lateral projections that look like dorsal fins, but turned the incorrect way.

Yellow Belly: A very large, 100–200-foot (30–61 m) yellow-and-black-striped, tadpole-shaped creature. Dropped. (Could still count as a larger form of whale shark)

Father-of-all-the-turtles: A giant turtle. Dropped.

Administrative Notice about Abominables

In future all information pertaining to living examples of fossil humans, Almas of Asia and the American counterpart,is to be sent to the Frontiers of Anthropology blog. If there is any new information on uncaught anthropoid apes, Yetis, Yeren, Yowies or Skunk apes (NAPEs), it shall be treated as any other news item, but I don't see any particular value in going over the older information again. Any information on fossil Gigantopithecus or possible survival of Gigantopithecus is to be given a higher priority, but once again we intend to focus on new material and news items on this blog.

Orangutan and Orang Pendek. Orang Pendek is considered identical to the smaller kind
of Yeti and Yeren, and a kind of Australian Yowie: similar creatures are also reported in
both North and South America. This information is still in exact accordance with Ivan T.
Sanderson's remarks on the subject made in 1961

Administrative Notice

Yesterday I posted two news stories from Facebook and this morning  I found two notices that I had posted fake stories created by jokesters

I have been having a hard time lately because my computer's power keeps getting cut off and also because this Blogger is giving me technical difficulties. But that is not really any excuse for publishing questionable material and I consider both stories to have been poor choices to run here. Both stories have been yanked.

Please bear with me, the blogs are still not yet back up to regular production yet

Administrative Notice

This blog has ceased to function and several complaints to Blogger about the problem have gone unanswered. I am sorry but unless Blogger steps in and corrects the problem I shall be incapable of maintaining these blogs any further. Once again, the problem lies with Blogger and not with me.

Son of Administrative Notice 2

I have been without proper reading glasses at this computer for the last several weeks, resulting in my need to squint at it from extremely close up in order to get anything done. This results in the ultraviolet eyeburn effect known as "Kleig Eyes" and it is very painful. However I final have word that my glasses are ready for pickup tomorrow. Therefore I am opening the blog back up for limited business at least until I can know if I can continue to run the blogs with the new glasses

Work on possibly converting blog entries into book form has unfortunately also had to stop. I shall worry about continuing that project at another time.

Administrative Notice

The Blogs are going on hiatus this week as selections are being pulled with the idea of having them published in book form. Readers shall be posted when the procedure is done, but it should not take longer than a week.

Best Wishes, Dale D.

PS, this also means that any comments which might be added will not be answered for the duration. That is also understood within the terms of "This blog is under hiatus"

Administrative notice: Blogger Bug

I currently have notice there are several comments waiting for approval on the FOZ blog. I am also being denied access to get in and view/approve or answer them. We have had this bug before and it is usually only temporary. If you have a comment pending, please be aware that we have this situation and please be patient.

Currently I have no access to even know who has left the comments and no knowledge of what the comments might be: I go to the comments page and it shows only a blank page. Older comments which showed up yesterday are also not showing up, I am getting nothing on my end.

Intellectualism is not Democratic

This is another version of something I am always saying: Cryptozoology is not a topic where any one opinion is as good as another, the commenter has got to actually know what they are talking about or the statement is worthless. Simply having an opinion is not good enough, simply quoting somebody else's opinion is not good enough either. Somebody that knows nothing about anatomy should not be advancing arguments which call for making judgments about anatomy, and so on down the line. People engaging in Cryptozoological debates should not be just throwing any old thing out there and hoping that it will stick. A lot of discussion in Cryptozoology consists of wild guesses and no background knowledge of the sciences which actually pertain to the question.

New Cryptozoology Blogs are up

My friend and associate who goes by the name of "Troodon Man" has made up two blog entries addressing reports of small "Living Dinosaurs" alleged to live in the USA, and the question of whether they could be forms of ordinary large lizards or not:

http://www.mysteriouszoology.blogspot.com/2013/07/the-anatomy-and-physiology-of-bipedal.html

And

http://www.mysteriouszoology.blogspot.com/2013/07/evidence-of-predatory-activity-in-large.html

This is his own investigation despite the fact that he was inspired to undertake the quest because of some blog postings here.
