Eastern Bigfoot Comparisons and Identity

The following chart was started by a friend on Facebook and I have added copies of the skull to all of his outlines as a constant point of reference. He works primarily with sightings in Ohio.

He has based his profile of "Ohio Sasquatch" on Trailcam photos (Nightvision-enhanced)

Ngandong cranium (Solo man) -Clearly similar to both Kansas skulls and Gadar man skull
Below, overlay of Kansas and Gadar skulls (Reversed so lettering reads normally. and this drawing reconstructs the Gardar Man face, which was missing. The indicated landmarks on both skulls are lined up here, bregma to bregma and so on) I find both of these skulls to be a good parallel to different skulls of the "Solo Man" series, some of which seem to be males and some females.

Below is the same Friend's painting representing one of the Ohio creatures.

A related report also just posted by Tom Marcum at The Crypto Crew:

Thomas Marcum at The Crypto Crew posted this video link
http://www.thecryptocrew.com/2013/11/possible-bigfoot-howls-recorded-in.html

"This was recorded in Grahn, KY by Tabatha Steagall and she was nice enough to give me permission to use it and enhance the audio.
Now I don't know for sure if this is a bigfoot but there has been a lot of activity coming out of Carter county Kentucky for many years now, so it is very possible it is a bigfoot.
Tabatha told me about the time she let her young son makes some bigfoot calls and was awed when they heard replies.  That event happened about 1 year ago.

Thanks
~Tom~"

Kentucky is another place where physical remains of Bigfoot  have been reported in the form of teeth, skulls and skeletons. The form of these remains is  consistent with the information as given above. And incidentally if these creatures ARE some form of Archaic Homo sapiens, then they are NOT Cryptids, they are NOT unknown:  they are members of our own species.

An Ohio Orangutan?

someone tell me what hell is this in a tree make it bigger circled yellow

The upper part very likely is not attached to the main "Body" part. But the main "Body" does look very much like the head and body of a young orangutan, up in a tree, with the long arms hidden in the leaves and branches. It looks like an arm is coming off at the right and holding onto the nearest tree trunk on that side. It seems to have drawn up knees and a very definite orangutan face.

Bigfoot Sightings in Ohio: the Grassman

Bigfoot in Ohio

If you live in Ohio you probably think Bigfoot is the last guy you’re going to see while out for a walk in the woods, but sightings of the elusive beast are on the rise in your state. It turns out Ohio is a favorite haunt of the big hairy guy. In fact, according to the BFRO Geographical Database, Ohio trails only such notorious Bigfoot hotspots as California, Oregon, Washington and Florida in reported sightings.
This might be surprising to some, but as we’ll see there are good reasons Bigfoot may be lurking in Ohio. Like any wild animal, Bigfoot requires food, shelter and safety, and he is able to find these things in abundance in the Buckeye State.
Grassman sightings in Ohio go back nearly 150 years, and the state is now a Bigfoot hotspot.

Bigfoot is also spotted in many other eastern states such as Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Virginia. This brings up more than a few questions about how the creature remains hidden, evades capture and has dodged the errant bullets of hunters for so long.
It turns out Bigfoot may be smarter, stealthier and more resourceful that we ever imagined, and he may be hiding right in our backyards. Here’s a look at how the creature may be getting by in the state of Ohio.

The Grassman Legend

For almost 150 years Ohio residents have witnessed a creature called the Grassman lurking about rural farms and fields. The Grassman is a monster alleged to inhabit Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, and looking back at reports it is almost certainly a Sasquatch. The first sightings occurred in 1869, where witnesses described it as a large, hairy, bipedal creature up to nine feet tall.
The beast allegedly eats wheat and other tall grasses, hence the name, but this is a food source we would expect an omnivore like Bigfoot to take advantage of if given the chance. Some researchers theorize that the Bigfoot population in more agricultural areas of Ohio may have adapted to consuming cereal crops. This too would make sense, as planted crops would provide an easy source of food for an enterprising Sasquatch.
The Grassman has been reported to share many characteristics similar to Bigfoot, but the grass-eating thing is not the only difference. For instance, the Grassman has also been spotted in groups, where most Bigfoot sightings are of a single individual. And, like the Skunk Ape in the south, the Grassman is reported to give off a strong odor.
But there are traditional Bigfoot reports from the state as well. If Bigfoot is as abundant in Ohio as many experts believe we have to assume it’s not because of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the state’s strong college football tradition. Bigfoot needs food, water and shelter, as well as a certain amount of security from us meddling humans. Even a creature as large as a Sasquatch can find such things in Ohio, and the history of the region makes the state even more Bigfoot friendly.

Some Ohio Bigfoot may have adapted to consuming agricultural grasses, hence the name "Grassman".

Why the Buckeye State?

We may think of Ohio as an Eastern state, but really it was part of the Northwest Territory established in the late 18th century. The population of Ohio in 1800 consisted of only 34,000 European citizens. (New York City alone had over 60,000, and Philadelphia over 40,000.)
Even the Native American populations in Ohio were in decline prior to this. In the 17thh century a combination of disease and war with Iroquois tribes from the east had decimated much of the indigenous population. Eventually they would begin to recover.
So, while the eastern part of the country was flourishing, Ohio was largely populated by Native American tribes who had fled west to avoid the European invasion, and the remnants of battered tribes indigenous to the area.
Ohio was also beyond the Proclamation Line established in 1763 as a promise between the Native Americans and English to limit colonial expansion. This would hold off the population boom for a few more years.
What does all of this have to do with Bigfoot? It adds up to a longer period of time before the European population began to explode, and allowed more time for Bigfoot to adapt to the presence of a large number of people in his territory. Where big animals such as the black bear and eastern cougar were under pressure from the new colonists, Bigfoot would have enjoyed a relative period of peace in the Ohio territory.
In later decades the population of Ohio grew many times over, but even though the current census is over eleven million much of the population is clustered around major cities. There are still a whole lot of woods and farmland in Ohio where a creature like Bigfoot might live.

The Appalachian Plateau
In the map above, notice the forests extending from the Appalachian Mountains into eastern Ohio. The Appalachian Mountains and the associated Appalachian Trail are thought by some researchers to be a kind of Bigfoot superhighway, enabling Sasquatches to migrate up and down the east coast in relative obscurity. On the western edge of the Appalachians there is the Appalachian plateau, which branches into Pennsylvania, Kentucky and West Virginia, and up into the eastern part of Ohio. Bigfoot is sighted in all of these states.

This southeastern area of Ohio features a large amount of wooded area within the Appalachian Plateau geography. Here a great number of Bigfoot sightings have been reported through the years, so much so that the Animal Planet show Finding Bigfoot did an investigation in this region.
Salt Fork State Park in particular is known as a great place to spot Bigfoot. It is the largest State Park in Ohio, with over 17,000 acres of land area and abundant rivers, streams and lakes. It seems like the perfect place for a Sasquatch to make his home.
The Appalachian Trail and the Appalachians in general are known for alleged Bigfoot sightings. Might this mountain range be a sort of connection between the eastern states, and a solid explanation for how a population of Sasquatch could thrive in the east?

Food Sources

If Bigfoot eats grasses that's fine in the summer, but the climate in Ohio can be tough in the winter. Many skeptics believe there simply isn’t enough food throughout much of the year to sustain a population of large creatures such as Sasquatch. But Bigfoot researchers disagree, and they believe the creature is perfectly capable of hunting or fishing for food even through the worst weather.
If Bigfoot hunts there is certainly enough game in Ohio. Since we know little about the beast’s physiology it’s hard to speculate on its caloric needs, but can assume they are significant. The state has a strong population of white-tail deer along with smaller mammals such as beavers, otters, weasels and groundhogs. All of this might be fair game for a hungry Sasquatch. Bigfoot may even be able to go long periods without food, and taking down a single deer may provide enough sustenance for several days.
There are plenty of water sources nearby. The state is bordered in the south by the Ohio River, and in the north by Lake Erie. Dozens of smaller rivers and tributaries run to each. This makes for great fishing and abundant food for a creature like Sasquatch.
And, there is always the possibility that Bigfoot has found other ways to bolster his food supply, such as caching food in the fall to make it through a rough winter. Of course we have no proof of this, but it is just as sound a theory as anything else.

The Minerva Monster and Other Sightings

In 1978 a family living near Minerva, Ohio, witnessed a 7-foot, hairy monster outside their home. Minerva, incidentally, is in eastern Ohio where many Bigfoot encounters have been reported. The family notified the local sheriff, and the legend of the Minerva monster was born.
The police investigated the claims but could find to proof of the creature. But sightings by the family continued, some in broad daylight. Some strange creature was stalking their property, and the police could find no evidence aside from some questionable footprints.
The family was swarmed by media for several weeks, but the sightings died off with the increased exposure. No definitive evidence of the Minerva Monster was ever found.
The Minerva Monster, or monsters, is considered by many researchers the best eyewitness accounts of Bigfoot in Ohio on record. The family and other witnesses were reliable, and the involvement of the police lends to the credibility. The fact that the creatures were observed at length in the daylight makes it hard to argue a case of mistaken identity of a known animal. In the end there are only two possibilities: The witnesses engaged in an elaborate and extremely well-rehearsed hoax, or Bigfoot really was stalking their property.
There are literally hundreds of Bigfoot encounters in Ohio according to reports at the official Bigfoot Field Researchers Database

Does it make sense that the Appalachian Mountain Range is a corridor of sorts for Bigfoot populations to travel throughout the east?

  • Yes! The mountains are rugged and Bigfoot would be well hidden.
  • Maybe. The mountains might be rugged, but people have lived in them for a long time.
  • No way! Bigfoot would be well-known by now if he lived in the Appalachians.
  • Bigfoot doesn't exist and only lives in one's mind.

Bigfoot is Loose in the East!

With increasing numbers of reports from Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and even the New England states, it appears there is a significant Bigfoot population in this part of the country. The Appalachians may provide a central area of security from which a relatively large population of Sasquatch could branch out into other adjacent states.
For a state like Ohio in particular, which appears to have the perfect combination of woodlands, water sources and wildlife, it seems almost impossible to imagine Bigfoot wouldn’t be present. After all, while Ohio isn’t nearly as remote, these are the same qualities of the habitat in the Pacific Northwest.
If you live in Ohio and have spotted Bigfoot tell us your story in the comments section below. More importantly, make sure you report it on the BFRO website. The more data legitimate researchers like the BFRO can collect the closer we’ll all be to understanding Bigfoot and proving he exists, in Ohio or anywhere else!

Growing Up With Sasquatch

What is now happening, is that the increased publicity and the internet has made it possible for shy witnesses to come forward to well established data collectors such as Lon on the Natural plane Blog. Substantial and important reports are now coming out and all have the internal veracity of producing completely new information that is also highly consistent.

This one confirms an expected datum and an unexpected datum. The expected datum is that the creature is able to take advantage of garbage in the same way as bears do but is also able to be generally surreptious about it. Successful penetration of security is no surprise though. I have met groundhogs that cute and this creature has our hands.

That they toss stones and make noise to scare off unwelcome kids is also no surprise. They are not lethal to us fortunately. Do not think for a second that they can not use that stone to take your head of in an eye blink. They are quite able to live next door and not disturb us at all and appear also careful not to. That is an additional reason to think that they are way more plentiful than we imagine.

The unexpected datum is that they practice field craft in terms of dealing with excrement. We had a single hint of that in the past but this report makes it totally clear that that is just what they do. They dig pits and bury it. This also means that they have a preferred base somewhere and that they are in the habit of keeping it tidy.

This report shows us a temporary base camp with a nest built in the grass. Again seen before, but not in conjunction with a close by human settlement.

The lack of scat had bothered me for a long time and that is now well answered.

As an aside, I have been monitoring reports for new data for over fifteen years and have come to know this creature very well. Most reports pick up on roaming males likely out foraging. I suspect that a lifeway similar to the gorilla troop is to be expected but we have not had direct confirmation at all. What we have though is a male with a female and cub out together on the prowl.

The evidence so far supports a nuclear family of sorts living as hunter gatherers and the possibility of several hunters working together for certain hunts. What I am seeing though is profound flexibility and a surprisingly low level of aggression.

Cryptid Encounters: Growing Up With Sasquatch - Marysville , Ohio

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2012

The following story is presented unedited. This is just an example of the many real-life encounters included in Phantoms& Monsters: Cryptid Encounters

“Hello - I saw the e-mail link at the bottom of your page and wanted to sent these accounts to you. Though I’ve lived in Florida for just over 12 years now, I grew up in Ohio . I’m convinced that we had a Sasquatch that would pass through the area on a regular basis. This conviction is due to both sightings of it (them?) and other evidence. I had actually e-mailed Autumn Williams with these accounts several years ago after watching a few episodes of Mysterious Encounters when it was in production. She never bothered to write back in response, so I don’t even know if she received the message. Since then, I contacted a researcher in Ohio with these events. Sorry to say, I don’t recall the man’s name. He was excited about it when he replied back to me with questions, but I’ve heard nothing since.

My parents and I moved into a house that was only a couple hundred yards from an abandoned railroad bed in Marysville, Ohio when I was 5-years-old. It wasn’t long after that we, my friends and I, started our forays to the railroad bed. During the Summer months, the weeds there would grow far taller than we were. For us, it was akin to being in a forest. Each Summer, we’d carve a path through, using sticks to hack and slash at the weeds, cutting out a narrow, curving path and a larger open area where we’d gather to talk and whatnot.

When the Sasquatch first turned up, or, I should say, when we first noticed it, we were still young. We had no idea what was there. We felt that something was there on occasion ,watching us. But for a long time we saw nothing. Then one of my friends reported having seen something large and hairy there one night. He saw it from a distance and only briefly. The rest of us didn’t take him too seriously at first. He kept hounding us with it, though. Then another friend, a girl whose grandparents lived in the lot adjoining the railroad bed, saw something one night. She mostly lived with her grandparents due to family issues and her bedroom window looked right out at the old railroad bed. Having a second report of something large and hairy up there at night made us all take it more seriously. Still, we were young and stupid. And the railroad bed was our place to go to get away from our parents. It was our place. We weren’t going to give it up easily. Being so young still, we had no idea what we had. We started calling it a Troll. As we never had the impression that it was there full-time. So, we learned to live with it.

It’s been suggested to me before, upon sharing these events, that the Sasquatch may have been young itself. I don’t know.

Several years went by. We were easing into our early teens. That’s when things started to pick up. Maybe there was a juvenile. Maybe it was just watching us grow and decided that, while it was willing to allow young children to play there, it wasn’t going to be so tolerant of older children. But the girl who lived right next to the railroad bed had several more night-time sightings. She was actually so afraid of what she saw that she convinced herself that she dreamed these, rather than truly admit that there was something there. I had three sightings of it/them over the years. She was with me for the first. We were in her grandparents’ yard, walking up the short, gentle hill to the railroad bed. She froze and put her arm across my chest, stopping me. I looked at her. She was staring, open-mouthed and wide-eyed, pointing straight ahead. Through a narrow gap in the weeds, I saw what looked like the head and shoulders of a large humanoid figure with dark black hair. It was either sitting or crouched, holding perfectly still. We were seeing its profile. We backed slowly down the hill until it was out of sight, then turned and ran.

After that, she refused to ever go back up there. Not even as part of a group. The following day, we told another friend. He wanted to see the spot where the creature had been seen. It was broad daylight, so I took him up there, albeit reluctantly. The only sign we saw of it was a large patch of flattened grasses where it had been.

Somewhere in there, he and I also found what we referred to as the “vine cave”, which I now believe to have been a nest. From our point of view, it simply popped into existence literally overnight in the large, open area we’d carved. He and I actually crawled into it a few times, but always felt very uncomfortable in it and always left quickly. Not long after the discovery of the “vine cave”, a couple of rival kids destroyed it, thinking we’d built it. I think that may have well caused the increase in encounters with the Sasquatch and it’s attempts to chase us away.

My second and third sightings were spaced out over the next few years. Each time I saw it was in broad daylight. I was in our driveway, pulling weeds that were growing up through the gravel. Movement from up at the railroad bed caught my attention. I looked up there to see a tall, humanoid being with long arms walking along the hill, moving to my right. It was covered in dark black hair. I’ve always suspected it was the same creature I saw on my first sighting, but don’t know for sure. I watched it walk for a few seconds until it was blocked from view by a neighbor’s storage shed. Then I turned and ran into the house. I didn’t go back up to the railroad bed for weeks.

My third sighting was from a far greater distance. On the other side of the railroad bed was a fenced-in area of cow pasture and the local water tower. Beyond that was a trailer court. I was in our upstairs back bedroom one afternoon, again, during broad daylight. I saw what I first took to be a rolled-up rug by a trash can back in the trailer court. I could just barely see it, due to the distance. I looked away, and then looked back. What I was seeing seemed shorter, as if it had sagged, or crouched. I kept looking away, and then looked back, wanting to see if it moved. I couldn’t tell if it was moving or not. Finally, I looked away for about ten minutes. When I looked back, whatever it had been was gone.

Another friend of mine lived in a house just beyond the far side of the trailer court. A wooden privacy fence divided his back yard from the trailer court. He once told me that he and his family would sometimes smell a heavy, musky scent at night. They would sometimes hear what sounded like heavy footfalls outside their house at night. He said his mother even claimed to have heard a loud heartbeat on occasion.

All in all, we were lucky. We gave it plenty of incentive to lash out at us. Luckily, it never did anything to hurt us. Just scare us, employing fear tactics. We were just too dumb and stubborn to pay close enough attention. Even after we’d all seen it.

Aside from the direct sightings of the creature(s), we had other evidence that it was there as well. Once, when I was in my teens and at the railroad bed alone, something that sounded very large was in the weeds and brush ahead of me, thrashing at the weeds, causing them to move and make a lot of noise. I thought at first it was the same friend who’s wanted to go check out the site of my first direct sighting of the Sasquatch. About the same moment I realized that whatever was ahead of me was too large to be him a rock about the size of my fist was thrown at me, just narrowly missing hitting me in the head. I ran and refused to go back to the railroad bed for weeks after. Next time I was there alone I was in the same place and the same weed-thrashing occurred again. Luckily, no rock was thrown that time. Another time that same friend who wanted to see the spot of my first sighting and I were at the railroad bed by ourselves. There had to have been at the very least two of the creatures with us, one on either side of us. Nothing was thrown at us, but the same weed-thrashing noises started up to each side of us.Oddly, this time, nothing was moving that we could see. Both of us clearly heard the sounds, but couldn’t see a thing moving. Still, after holding our ground for only a few moments, we both ran.

This same friend also decided to step up our own claims on the railroad bed after he had found a rock cairn built on our path one day. The cairn was small. My friend spouted his usual line of, “No f^*&ing monkey is going to chase me away!” and promptly kicked the cairn, scattered the stones. We gathered up new stones and built a new, larger cairn in place of the one we’d found. We left and went back the next day to find our own cairn scattered and a new, larger one in its place. My friend immediately kicked it apart and we built a new one, larger still, in place of the one we’d found. This went on for days; each day we’d find that the cairn we’d built the day before had been wrecked and new, larger, one would be in its place. Each day my friend would scatter the new one and we’d build our own, larger yet, in place of the most recent one we’d found. Secretly, I thought he was going back up to the railroad bed later and building the new cairn we would “find” the next day and he thought the same of me. Finally, after this had gone on long enough that the cairns were getting to be a bit larger than shoebox size, my friend decided to go one better and scent mark the cairn we’d just built. He told me what he was going to do and promptly unzipped his pants and urinated on the rock cairn we had just built. Afterward, we left and went to his house. We hung out on his front porch for two or three hours, talking, then decided to go check on the new, scent marked cairn. The smell hit us when we were still a good hundred yards, maybe more, from the cairn. We knew what we’d find and it scared both of us. As we’d been together for the entire intervening time, each knew that the other had not gone back to the railroad bed to do anything. The scent was an overpowering musk that was so strong it made us sick. Think skunk concentrate. We held our breath, ran in, saw what we knew we’d find - a new cairn that was noticeably larger than the one we’d built a few hours prior -and ran back out into clear air to breath. That stench lingered for days, but that ended the rock cairn war.

There were other times, before and after that, when my friends and I would be at the railroad bed and smell what smelled like a skunk. We also once found what looked to be shallow, crude pit toilets. We saw what looked to be finger marks in the mud and suspected they’d been dug out with very large bare hands. Several of the toilets contained what looked to be human fecal matter, only far larger.

The next door neighbors we had while I was growing up were very wasteful people. They didn’t believe in leftovers from meals. If something wasn’t eaten, it went into the trash, not the refrigerator. Their trash was torn open many, many times. They went to the expense of having a 5-foot-tall brick wall built around the area they kept their trash cans in. There was a green picket gate on the front for the garbage collectors to open to get access to the trash. They also bought trash cans with locking lids. None of it did any good. Whatever kept tearing into the trash would sometimes open the gate, leaving it open, and knew how to unlock the locked trashcan lids. I have often wondered if their trash wasn’t why the Sasquatch liked that area and if it wasn’t using the railroad bed as a convenient staging place to raid both their trash and trash from the aforementioned trailer court.

I have no evidence to support these claims. We were young and never thought to gather any evidence - something I kick myself for to this day. Having a Sasquatch passing though so closely so often didn’t seem special to us because we were growing up with it.

The address for the house my parents and I lived in while all this went on is (redacted). We moved in when I was 5-years-old and moved out in 1998 when I was 22, only days before my 23rd birthday. Later I was told the railroad bed area has become even more abandoned and overgrown. But I have no idea if the Sasquatch is still there, or not.” - S.H.

NOTE: Since receiving this narrative, I have kept in contact with the witness and believe him to be very credible. Lon

Another Bigfoot Comparison

Last Friday or so, there was a posting on one of my Facebook groups reprinting the picture above anthe notice that "The one in the middle was the one that I saw" in Ohio, and this was joined by a similar statement from another member. I thought this was interesting because I had seen the chart before and discussed it then (I said I could not tell what distinction was meant to be shown between the two figures on the left)ther different member of the other group said that the middle one was the one THEY had seen, but in Texas. Sird witness had said that, I took a strong second look at the illustration, and I made the paste-up below:
This pasteup compared the middle "Gigantopithecus" to the Iceman as represented by Bernard Heuvelmans, and it became apparent that a Gigantopithecus was not represented at all. The two recocnstructions had any number of similarities and the "Gigantopithecus" was far too human-like, especially its head and face. Between the two the browridge, height of the face as proportion to the full height, and form of the mouth were all close, and the noses are actually identical although the drawing styles tend to make that less obvious. The proportionate lengths of the arms and legs, and the shape of the hands and feet, werthe two, but more specifically both had the same oddly thickened forearms and thick wrists and ankles. I'm willing to call that Neanderthaloid from the comparison.

The overall effect is also much like the individual creature known as Mecheny and reported n Siberia. Harry Trumbore has a different drawing of this but I prefer the original art shown here

Alexandr Fedenyow and The Face of Almasty is The Face Of the Eastern Bigfoot

Ordinarily I do not like to reprint items from the Cryptomundo site. In this case it was necessary to draw attention to something I had known about personally for a long time and I needed to share.Recently, Loren Coleman posted this notice at the usual sources:

Russian Hominologist Dies
Alexandr Fedenyow, 46, has died suddenly.
http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/fedenyow-obit/

Via Loren Coleman, International Cryptozoology Museum, Portland, Maine

And the article includes these two artworks with the introduction:

Tommy Shirley shares these two images created by Alexandr Fedenyow, who was also a graphic artist, of the Russian Almasty variety called Leshiy:

And at one of the places where the notice was posted, I added this reply:

It is unfortunate that the man died so young (in his mid 40s)
To the other group members: Fedenyow was also an artist and the Cryptomundo notice has a couple of his productions on display. I was interested in this because what he depicts seems unusually close to what is being reported in our neck of the woods as "Eastern Bigfoot" and I have depicions from American artists that are almost identical to his. He would have been a valuable person for me to have talked to because I would have wanted to convey this information to him.

Best Wishes, Dale D.

PS, "Leshiy" is used indiscriminately to denote anything strange or unusual in the woods and it has also been used to refer to possible surviving wooly mammoth reports.

Above is the first posting of a Russian Almasty that I noticed to be showing the "Bigeye" feature I had been discussing with member Wolfen (See "Portrait" below) at the Yahoo group Frontiers of Zoology. At right is another similar Bigfoot portrait from Texas, and below that one another "Bigeye" Wildman or Almasty. When Wolfen posted his portrait painting below and noted that the witness insisted that the eyes were that big, I countered with the "Bigeye" artwork by a Bifgoot witness found on the internet and labelled "Figure 4"

Bigfoot "Figure 4" Artwork by witness Sue Lindley emphasizing the very large eyes of the female Bigfoot she saw.

"Wolfen's" painting "Portrait" submitted to the group Frontiers of Zoology in 2007 and beginning the discussion by noting the very arge size of the eyes as insisted upon by the witness describing the Bigfoot for him to represent. Actually all of these representations are also remarkable for the fairly high dome of the cranium above eye level in most of them, not the same as in "Patty" or the far-Western "Conehead" Sasquatches proper.
Once again, the "Them or Us" reconstruction of a bestial Neanderthal man that has among its features outsized eyes with a large dialation for night vision like a cat has. This is the same thing as is insisted upon by the Russian "Leshiy" witnesses. And actually there is some reason for this when you look at the Neanderthal's skull: the eye sockets are distinctively large and unusually rounded. Also the nasal passages are hugely enlarged and there are peculiarities about the ear opening as well. It would seem Neanderthals had immensely developed senses far beyond the senses used by civilized Homo sapiens and one could well categorize their senses of sight, smell and hearing as Superhuman (or animal-like if you prefer) Which would only go towards confitming what the witnesses say about the extreme caution about showing themselves and the heightened senses characteristic of the Almases and the Eastern Bigfoot in most of the sightings.
"Southern Sasquatch" [or "Bigfoot" rather] illustrating the reported effect of the very large eyes glowing from reflected light. This could well be something of an exaggeration and possibly partly because the irises of the eyes are coloured reddish, but many witnesses insist on the effect that the eyes are huge, both relatively and actually.
It is not certain whether the actual Sasquatch of the far West shares this trait or exhibits an eyeglow anything like this large.

"Land Otter Man" of the West Coast (Alaska to Northern California) has been cited as a Native legendary creature comparable to Sasquatch: but actually the oversized eyes and double-arched browridge are more like the Eastern type. In Tennessee, some of them are said to drop to the ground to avoid being observed and  to "Go from vertical to horizontal in notime flat"
Land Otter Man is completely hairy and somewhat smaller than the typical Sasquatch (still six to eight feet tall) and they are said to kidnap humans but not to eat them, instead intending "To make them into other creatures such as themselves"

Scan of Dale's transparencies used in lectures demonstrating how the anatomy of the Iceman as depicted
by Ivan Sanderson is an exact match for what is known about Neanderthals. From the first, whenever I comment on this, I draw attention to the very large very round eye sockets on both the Iceman and on the Neanderthal skulls.
Bernard Heuvelmans independantly made much the same comparison by use of line drawings. In my lectures,
I would overlay the transparencies of the Iceman hand and face over the Neanderthal skeleton and skull,
demonstrating a nearly perfect match in either case.

Iceman

Heuvelmans' photo mosaic for the Iceman and the line-art reconstructions made at his direction by Alika Lindbergh both above and below, from his book on the Iceman and Surviving Neanderthals
(Le Homme d'Neanderthal est Toujours Vivant).

From the onset I was aware that the statements being made by the witnesses were not only internally consistent, they were also uniformly in agreement and flatly contradictory to Conventional Anthropological wisdom. For not only were they all in agreement that the Neanderthals were surviving up to the present day and the same throughout Europe and Asia, North and South America, they were all insistant about some things which do not fossilize: that the Neanderthals had a nocturnal adaptation of enlarged eyes with very large pupil dialation and unusually strong eyeglow (ordinarily red or orange, but not necessarily so). The question is now not so much to confirm that observation but whether or not that means they belong to the same species as the rest of us if they have such a unique adaptation.

Best Wishes, Dale D.

Tenneessee Bigfoot, Eastern Bigfoot or Southern Bigfoot, similar sightings in Georgia and West Virginia. Compare body conformation with Heuvelmans Iceman directly above and the "Leshiy" drawing from Cryptomundo that went with the obituary. The shape of the head, hands and feet are again just like the Neanderthals: teeth of this type have been found and also match Neanderthals but are of very large size.
