900 Pound, 10 Foot Giant Neanderthal Once Roamed Minnesota

The McIvor Times, September 5, 1884
Gigantic Skeletons
A Michigan paper reports the discovery of a gigantic human in a rock near the Sauk Rapids.  It says: - "The head is massive 31 1/2 in. in circumference, is low in the front and very flat on the top.  The femur measures 26 1/4 in., and the fibula 26 1/2 in., while the body is equally long in proportion.  From the crown of the head to the sole of the foot, the length is 10 feet 9 1/2 inches.  The measure around the chest is 59 1/2 In.,  This giant must have weighed at least 900 lbs, when covered with a reasonable amount of flesh.  The petrified remains, and there is nothing left but the naked bones, now weigh 304 lbs.  The thumb and fingers of the left hand and the left foot from the ankle to the toes are gone, but all of the other parts are perfect.  Verily, there were giants in those days!

Neanderthal Notices

Jay Cooney suggested it would be a good thing to mention the matter of the Nebraskan Neanderthals or Loess Men which has been reprinted at the Frontiers of Anthropology Blog. Here is the link to that posting:
http://frontiers-of-anthropology.blogspot.com/2013/12/the-neanderthaloid-loess-men-of-nebraska.html

And Jay has also argued that the term "American Almas" is really better than "Eastern Bigfoot" I agree but I should make the note that "American Almas" is my own  term but "Eastern Bigfoot" comes from other sources. When the reports started to be taken seriously in the middle and later 1970s, the term "Eastern Bigfoot" was used by several popular sources and so it was the one which is probably more familiar to more researchers. Mark A. Hall and Loren Coleman have used the term but they make the specification that it is an American subsection of the Marked Hominid, common in many other parts of Eurasia also.

"American Neanderthal"-- Publisher's Description

HOW ANY RESPECTABLE CLUB- AND STONE-CARRYING CAVEMAN INDEED SHOULD HAVE LOOKED. When Neanderthal relics surfaced during the 19th century, established artists were employed to flesh out the likely appearance of these erstwhile Eurasians. The rendering at center is based upon the La Chapelle-aux-Saints Neanderthal skeleton, unearthed in France in 1908. It was the first complete skeleton of the type ever excavated. The drawing was initially published in 1909 in France's L'Illustration. And a week later in England's Illustrated London News. It was done in the (old school) representational style of art by (of all unlikely people) Czech painter, Frantisek Kupka. Kupka was the co-founder of the abstract art movement and Orphic cubism. But there was nothing abstract nor cubist about this simple image. Which was based upon the anatomical work of French paleontologist, Marcellin Boule, who had commissioned the picture. However, the La Chapelle-aux-Saints bones were in truth of a crippled and elderly Neanderthal. With a deformed skeleton from advanced arthritis. So paleontologist Boule mistakenly concluded that all Neanderthals were malformed, hunched over, gorilla-like creatures. Therefore, (mostly abstract & cubist) painter Kupka portrayed them as such. At bottom left is German anatomist Hermann Schlaaffhausen's 1857 sketch of the likely owner of the historic Neanderthal 1 bones: the crucial 'type specimen' relics used for taxonomic classification of this new species of early humans. The Neanderthal 1 remains were found in 1856 in a limestone quarry in the German town of Erkrath, near Düsseldorf (see paras. 14-15). The Neanderthal illustration at far right was commissioned for the 1965 book, Early Man. Which was penned by American anthropologist, Francis Clark Howell, the father of modern paleoanthropology. Howell's book was part of a popular Time-Life series of educational volumes entitled, Life Nature Library. And lastly, at top left is a model of a Neanderthal (c. 1920), produced for Chicago's Field Museum of Natural History. The Chicago exhibit was based upon a (purportedly) flawed interpretation of the best anatomical specimens of the time. But all of the reconstructions of the period --- including the more reasoned Chicago and Time-Life versions --- nevertheless depicted Neanderthal as either a hairy, no-necked, or otherwise rough-hewn species. Simple primates. Who never left their caves without a crude club in one hand. And a rough stone in the other. Or what Pulitzer Prize winner Jared Diamond (Guns, Germs, & Steel) might characterize as the basic, NEANDERTHAL FOUNDER PACKAGE

Cryptozoology--The Almas (Wild Man)

Artist's depiction of the AlmasMitch Waite
Artist's depiction of the AlmasMitch Waite
The Almas also known as Abnauayu, Almasty, Albasty, Bekk-bok, Biabin-guli, Golub-yayan, Gul-biavan, Auli-avan, Kaptar, Kra-dhun, Ksy-gyik, Ochokochi, Mirygdy, Mulen, Voita, and Wind-man. The term Almas is Mongolian for “Wild man”. These creatures are unconfirmed, but there is quite a bit of evidence of their existence. The territory of the Almas includes the Altai Mountains of Southern Mongolia, The Pamir Mountains of Asia, and the Caucasus of Central Asia.
The Almas are reported to be a bipedal primate or hominids which are very human-like. Adults average five to six feet tall, and some reports have them near seven feet, and 300 pounds. They have early human like facial features with a heavy brow line, prominent chin, and flat broad nose. Their bodies are covered with brown hair with a reddish tint. This description brings to mind the image of the caveman.
A sighting was described by Myra Shackley in her article “Still Living?”. She reports a 1963 event by pediatrician Ivan Ivlov who was working with Mongolian children. He discovered that many of the children had seen the Almases. Neither was afraid of each other.
Some Crypto zoologists believe the Almas may be related to the Neanderthal, which may lend credence to the story of Zana the wild woman who was thought to be an Almas who lived among humans in T’khina in the Caucasus near Abkhazia. She was captured in 1850 and soon became part of the village. She gave birth to several children, from a human father. Surviving children grew up to be normal and functional members of the village. Zana died in 1890.
A second captured Almas happened in 1941 by the Red Army. Unfortunately, the male was interrogated by the army, and was either unable or refused to answer questions. He was executed for being a spy. He was reported to be very human like with dark brown hair covering his body.
In recent DNA testing of the Human Race, it was determined that most modern Caucasian Humans have some genes from the Neanderthal. The report goes on to say the genes are not existent in those who originating in Africa. This report seems to indicate that those from Europe must have had children with the Neanderthal in the early beginnings of modern man. This leads to all kinds of speculation.
Could Bigfoot be related to the Almas? Could the Almas be Neanderthal? Could Bigfoot be our cousins?

Eastern Bigfoot Comparisons and Identity

The following chart was started by a friend on Facebook and I have added copies of the skull to all of his outlines as a constant point of reference. He works primarily with sightings in Ohio.

He has based his profile of "Ohio Sasquatch" on Trailcam photos (Nightvision-enhanced)

Ngandong cranium (Solo man) -Clearly similar to both Kansas skulls and Gadar man skull
Below, overlay of Kansas and Gadar skulls (Reversed so lettering reads normally. and this drawing reconstructs the Gardar Man face, which was missing. The indicated landmarks on both skulls are lined up here, bregma to bregma and so on) I find both of these skulls to be a good parallel to different skulls of the "Solo Man" series, some of which seem to be males and some females.

Below is the same Friend's painting representing one of the Ohio creatures.
(I am waiting for word back from him but right now I have not got permission to use his name)

And below, comparative silhouettes showing A) "Littlefoot" or ProtoPygmy type,
B ) Ordinary human and C ) Eastern Bigfoot, generalised composite, compare to above (Males).

Thomas Marcum at The Crypto Crew posted this video link

"This was recorded in Grahn, KY by Tabatha Steagall and she was nice enough to give me permission to use it and enhance the audio.
Now I don't know for sure if this is a bigfoot but there has been a lot of activity coming out of Carter county Kentucky for many years now, so it is very possible it is a bigfoot.
Tabatha told me about the time she let her young son makes some bigfoot calls and was awed when they heard replies.  That event happened about 1 year ago.

Thanks
~Tom~"

Kentucky is another place where physical remains of Bigfoot  have been reported in the form of teeth, skulls and skeletons. The form of these remains is  consistent with the information as given above. And incidentally if these creatures ARE some form of Archaic Homo sapiens, then they are NOT Cryptids, they are NOT unknown:  they are members of our own species.

2 Sighting Reports From Kentucky

Kentucky is home to bigfoot
Carter County, Kentucky
These two bigfoot sighting reports come out of Carter County Kentucky. The reports were given to us by Tabatha Steagall and they are of her personal sightings. This is her written account of what she saw.

- Sighting Report 1 -
"My shortest sighting happened when I was a teenager in the late 90's. Not sure the exact date. I was throwing out scraps to the horses after dinner, I was standing by the fence, in the field about 40 or 50 foot away stood a big man looking thing, it looked like a Neanderthal. I actually spent years thinking it was a ghost of a Neanderthal! I promise I'm not nuts! But after watching the Finding Bigfoot show for a season or two it just dawned on me that it was probably and more likely a bigfoot! It was huge, terrifyingly huge. I couldn't make out much about it and didn't stick around to either. All I could see was that it was dark in color, there was only moon light to see by.
It stood perfectly still didn't move at all. I don't even know if I was looking at the back side or the front. I did see hair that fell in different layers around its head and kind of flared outwards. I don't know how I even seen that much but that is the one thing I did see. My dad went to find it when I came back in and told my family, but it was gone. Didn't really put much thought into it other than it was ghost. Not even when I seen the real deal around the same time."

-End Report 1 -

Bigfoot in Carter, KY
Mock up of sighting report 2
-Sighting Report 2 -
"In February of 1998 we had a huge ice storm. I remember it so well because my sister had got hit by a car on Feb 2nd (and only suffered a hurt leg thankfully), and the storm came late that night. We lost power for 6 days. Everything we had in the deep freezer went bad and my Dad had sacked it up and put it outside by the gas tank to throw out later.
We had to cook out with a grill to feed my family & my Mamaw & Papaw all week (I think the smell may have drawn him in, but anyways).
The night the electric came on me and my dad were watching TV and the porch light was on. I glanced at the window and seen what looked like a man carrying our bag of meat. And that’s when I screamed "some man is stealing our rotted meat". I seen it run up the steps and it had black hairy legs. I could see that the hair was attached to the body as it moved, if that makes any sense! I don't know if I would say I seen the muscles but more so like it wasn't saggy.
Anyways, the porch light didn't light up the whole steps, so it was gone out of sight pretty quickly. My dad and me jumped up and we could hear it crashing through the woods about 15 or so feet up into the woods, and then it was silent, I'm assuming it jumped a fence and went into the neighbors cow field where it would make less noise while making its escape.
And the next morning my dad found the bag and the meat was gone, but the butter and the fries were still in the bag. My dad said that the bag wasn't opened like an animal chewed it but more like a person would open it.
I always wondered why it came so close to the house, but after watching Finding Bigfoot I learned that they don't like to leave tracks, and where the water came off the roof there was no snow, but up higher in the yard there was still snow. I don't remember looking that good for tracks then, just around the house, too bad I didn't have the knowledge I have today, but at least I seen it. I feel pretty lucky to have seen what I have seen, but I don't know if luck has anything to do with it when you live in Grahn! I think we are surrounded by them.”

Here is a general map of Grahn,KY

-End Report 2 -

Thanks goes to Tabatha for sharing the reports. Over the years Carter county has been an active bigfoot sighting area and it appears it is continuing. Anyone with sightings from that area or anywhere should feel free to contact us.

Thanks
~Tom~

Good Contrast of Different Kinds of 'Bigfoot' from Indiana

The Facebook grou for Stonegraphics (in association with the Indiana Bigfoot organization) has this picture as their homepage picture, the banner for the page. It was posted by Gray Wolf and he gave me the permission to reprint it here. I did a double take when I saw it because I could tell at once the Bigfoots did not belong to the same species. To illustrate this specifically, I cut out the main part from the middle and edited it slightly to make it clearer below (Primarily I shortened the overly long arms of the creature on the  left hand side of the picture, when they were obviously meant to mirror the arms of the much more apelike creature on the right hand side of this cutout)

Here we have clearly: A) The larger Classic Sasquatch in the middle (not a native of this area to my understanding, but I could be mistaken)
B ), The Wildman type or Eastern Bigfoot at Left (Looking much like Heuvelmans' illustration for "Homo pongioides" and in Indiana we have both the footprints that are very like some of the Central Asian "Almas" tracks, plus some newspaper accounts of discoveries of Neanderthal-type skeletons)
And C) The smaller, more obviously apelike creature on the right (I have also picked out its special eyes, nostrils and big toes to match the reports better: I consider this face to be likely very near the truth with the eyes and nostrils situated I these positions. I may even have indicated the eyes as too far apart: the shape of the face around the eye sockets is very much like some of the fossil apes.)

The more apelike creatures are often distinctly reddish ("Auburn") and Loren Coleman indicates reports of NAPES in Southern Indiana as well as Illinois. They are fond of apples and other fruits, nuts and especially acorns and pine nuts (in pine cones) and will stockpiles hordes of these for lean times: they are also said to hibernate like bears over the winter although this has been denied.

The three types are a good match for the "Big Yeti, Wildman (Mi-go) and Little Yeti"as depicted along with Bernard Heuvelmans by his ex-wife on the commemorative postcard below:

The homepage picture above is donated by Steve Abney of the Hoosier Bigfooters:

Once more we again have striking confirmation that the skull of the Eastern Bigfoot creature much resembles that of the Neanderthal man. And Neanderthals are only another type of Homo sapiens, our own species. They are hairy people, much as many of the witnesses are saying these days. What scanty DNA analysis results we do have indicate that the DNA is  99.5% similar to modern humans, which happens to be the same as the Neanderthal range. This was never stated openly in the past.

Below is another picture of one of these Wildmen in obvious robust good health.
(The crown of the head is even somewhat TOO high here, but the idea is that the top of the head is high and rounded, more than pointed, and there is a good breath of obvious forehead often showing, giving a much more human-like appearance than in the far-Western Sasquatch type.

Jay Cooney reminded me that he had also published on the idea that Neanderthals were hairy in life:

Related News Item: This just came in at the Facebook Page Bigfoot Believers...

This is the earliest known photograph of a possible Sasquatch footprint, taken in 1947 near Eureka, California. This shows evidence of footprints pre-1958, when the Bigfoot craze erupted and skeptics claims was the birth of a hoax

The 'Sykesville Monster': Bigfoot...or Something Else?

Many of the readers of 'Phantoms and Monsters' and listeners of 'Beyond the Edge Radio' can recall my description of my 1981 encounter with a Bigfoot type being. If not, here are a few links:

My Bigfoot Encounter - Spring 1981
Man witness confrontation between Bigfoot and stray dog, near Sykesville, MD
The 'Sykesville Monster'

At the time, I called it a 'Bigfoot' because, frankly, that was the only way I could have described it. It wasn't human...it wasn't an ape. For over 30 years my encounter with this being has left a strange hole in my understanding of nature and reality. I have tried to comprehend exactly what it was I witnessed.

Over the years, I have tried to gather more information on my sighting as well as other sightings in the general area. Since my sighting in 1981 there have been two (2) more BFRO 'Class A' reports along the Patapsco River Valley and another four (4) general reports and sightings in the same area from 1972-1979.

I interviewed and got to know several of the witnesses of the 1972-73 flap after my personal encounter in 1981. Many of these witnesses have since passed away. There were other unreported incidents in the general Sykesville and Gaither, MD areas. I personally took statements to eight (8) more sightings / encounters between 1972-1979, including a home invasion on Norris Ave. and a utility shed break-in on Oklahoma Ave...both in Sykesville. There were also several chicken pens broke into up and down the South Branch of the Patapsco River in Gaither, MD - Sykesville, MD - Woodstock, MD - Daniels, MD and Ellicott City, MD. Most of the sightings have been within the Patapsco State Park...which has a history of unusual activity (UFO, paranormal and cryptid) throughout the park. I still live within 15 miles of all the locations.

Over the past few months, I decided to come to grips with my encounter and have a sketch or image of the being's face created. I knew that if the image was similar to what I actually witnessed there would be controversy and doubters...but I can't let that bother me.

After making a few inquiries, I was directed to a retired police forensics artist who is now a private investigator in Florida. The image would be created digitally. I forwarded all the facial descriptions that I had gathered from the witness' sightings and subsequent interviews.

On Saturday, I received the image with a note from the artist that read 'are you sure this is what you witnessed? It looks like a rendering of early man except for a few features'. I called him and assured him that this is what I witnessed...this is what we all witnessed. This was the 'Sykesville Monster'. Lon

Hunt Still in Progress

Baltimore Afro-American - Jun 9, 1973

Sykesville, Carroll County, Maryland

Sykesville, Maryland - The fear and uncertainty that has gripped residents here the past two weeks has been intensified by two new reports of monster sightings received by police Friday.

The "Sykesville Monster" was seen Friday evening by an out-of-state truck driver who described him vividly.

Of high significance is the fact the 1,400-population town, 20 miles North of Baltimore, Maryland in Carroll County, has jumped into nationwide headlines in the National AFRO and other news media. Following the Baltimore zoo assistant director Dr. Ted Roth called to say that he went to Sykesville and determined the footprint is by a large human foot "with fallen arches." He said he would report after he takes another trip to Sykesville to determine "what the balance of the body may be."

A Baltimore scientific research firm is also in Sykesville checking AFRO caller's from 'educators to the man-on-the-street' are on their way to the small town.

TRUCK DRIVER'S REPORT

According to the truck driver, (who requested anonymity), the "it" stood approximately seven to eight feet tall and appeared to be dark brown in color." It could have been a man on stilts." he said.

The driver stated that whatever it was seemed to be "caked with mud from the waist down."

Although he was unable to pinpoint the exact location of the sighting, the driver said it appeared to be sitting down. According to the driver, the "thing", which was evidently minding its own business, stood, turned around and sensing danger, dashed into the woods.

As the result of the AFRO story Friday, an investigating organization, Odyssey Scientific Research, Baltimore, is on the scene. John Lutz, director of Odyssey, talked to the truck driver, and said there is an additional witness in Anne Arundel who reportedly saw the monster.

TALKING WITH EYE-WITNESSES

Although reluctant to classify the "thing" which has been running loose in Sykesville, Mr. Jutz did state that at the present time, his corporation is, "listing the incident as an unidentified prowler until more information is gathered and more positive identification was made."

Mr. Lutz added that tape recordings are being made of each witnesses account in order to form verbal records, which will be studied, by veterinarians, zoologists and biologists.

According to Mr. Lutz, the entire incident could be the work of a prankster. "It's very possible that a prankster will call the police department and say it was all a big joke," he said.

AFRO RETURNS

As of Sunday, when two AFRO reporters returned to Sykesville's "Oklahoma Hill," citizens were hardly joking about the situation, which they feel is very real.

Mrs. Agnes Dorsey, mother of the' young man who first saw the "thing" said she thought more should be done to effect its capture and or destruction. They should have- -gangs of men out looking for it," she said, "I hope it's caught!"

According to Anthony Dorsey, the monster has also been seen in Woodstock, and Marriotsville, Md., located 6 miles from Sykesville, Md.

NOTE: I am not going to place a copyright on this image. I sincerely hope that those people who wish to use it will include the actual story behind the rendered image. I think the big question is 'are these natural beings or are we seeing interdimensional examples of early man or other hominids from another time?'...Lon Strickler

[OK, so here we have a clear case by a prominent witness who saw an "Early Man" kind of a bigfoot. These sightings are far more common than the general media would have us believe. The COMMONEST kind of Bigfoot in the Eastern and Southern USA is the "Early Man" type.-DD]

Neanderthal Skull from Florida

These are two skulls from the Crystal Springs area of Florida, age unknown but of a type prior to the historical tribes of the region. This came out of a series of newspaper articles to be posted at the Frontiers of Anthropology as soon as I can manage to arrange them: the photograph was posted in the Miami Daily News of Sunday, September 2, 1934. The cranium on the right is low and broad with a heavy brow ridge and represents a Neanderthal type: it is a male. The other skull is the more modern type, a female. Both of them may have been killed and thrown into the water as a sacrifice: the bottom of the male skull is broken open, presumably so the brain could be eaten. The Neanderthal type might well correspond to the more human kind of "Skunk Ape", which is also extremely similar to some reports from Texas.

Bigfoot Evidence Neanderthal Report

From Bigfoot Evidence on Thursday, a report of a very Neanderthal-like individual. Florida is one place where you get this specifically (and I'm thinking Texas is another) but the Neanderthal-type reports are scattered all over North America. They are overshadowed by reports of their larger cousins, but their very specificness makes them exciting to hear about.

Report of Bigfoot (Neanderthal-looking man) Slinging Mud at Frog Catcher In Florida

A man in Florida just submitted a report to the BFRO after watching Finding Bigfoot and wrote about an encounter he had with Bigfoot while frogging the day after Thanksgiving (November 23, 1990). According to the report, the man's life changed forever when he locked eyes with a Neanderthal-looking man slinging mud at him in his airboat.

Here's the raw report written by the witness:

LOCATION DETAILS: The Oak's Upper St.Johns River
NEAREST TOWN: Cocoa,Florida
NEAREST ROAD: Marsh

OBSERVED: I was flipping threw the channels last week watching some late night TV when I saw a program called Finding Bigfoot. It brought me back to the day my mind about that giant changed for me.I only told my mom what I saw.It really changed my life about the unknown.I was running my airboat on the upper St. Johns River doing what I like to do best frog gigging on a Friday night. It wasnt the first time I was out on the river at night,I use to run the north and south parts of the river all the time.I still do just at night I make sure I have a running buddy with me.Anyway I was coming up on the oak's.The oaks are located right next to Duda's property.Just a wee south of Lake Winder. I figured I would pull up into the oakhead and drink a few cups of joe before I started to gig.Out of the corner of my eye I saw something bolt into the cabbage palms.I figured it to be a hog,I really did not know what it was the last thing on my mind was it could of been the big guy.Anyway I ran up on dry ground about 15 yards spun my boat around so it was pointed toward the river and shut it down.I just poured a cup of joe when I herd something about 10 yard behind me.It sounded like it was wrestling with a cabbage palm.Or maybe rolling around in a bunch of palms. Then out of know where I herd a thump right next to me boat.I looked but did not see anything then again I herd it behind my boat then something hit my rudders I turned on my head lamp and saw mud on my rudders I then saw a bunch of mud fly over me and hit my bow I shined my light in the direction of where it was coming from and I saw his face.I lost all feeling in my body I just about passed out I was lost I didnt know what to do.I was in total shock.I just about peed my pants I was so scared.I never in my natural born life moved so fast to crank my boat and got the heck out of there.I almost sank my boat when I hit the river. I just went north knowing I would be in the lake.I was scared to drive home so I parked in the middle of Lake Winder and took a few sips of drink to calm my nerves and try to talk my self out of what I saw,I stayed there untill first light. When I got home I went and seen my mom and had to tell her what I saw. I told her the story because it scared me so.I am a man and I am tuff but that scared the living heck out of me.I figured I should share my story just like others are on that tv show.

Follow-up investigation report by BFRO Investigator R. Monteith:

I spoke with the gentleman for several hours. Although this encounter happened in 1990, he remembers every detail. He claims this encounter changed his life forever. The gentleman has worked at the space center for over 20 years and has gone frogging every Friday night on his airboat even longer. On November 23, 1990, around midnight, he took his airboat to a familiar oak hammock north of Lake Washington and south of Lake Winder on the St. Johns River.

He backed his airboat in as usual, to prevent any other boaters that might come by from blocking him in. He turned off the engine, and while still sitting in his chair, poured himself a coffee. Within a minute’s time, he heard two “plops” that came from the front of his boat. Then he heard a “plop” hit the rudder behind him. He turned on his headlamp to investigate the noise. He noticed mud on the rudder. As he was trying to figure out where the mud came from, another clump of mud went sailing over his head, going through his light beam and hitting the rudder. He quickly turned to see who was throwing mud, and from behind a group of palmettos, standing 30 feet from him was a huge, dark-haired “Neanderthal” staring at him.

They “locked eyes,” looking at each other for several seconds. The witness claims he was so frightened he couldn’t move. He thought how sometimes his engine takes a few times to fire, and he was concerned he wouldn’t be able to get away fast enough. To this day, he doesn’t remember starting the engine, but does remember that once it was started, he “torpedoed” out so fast, he swamped the boat and almost sunk it.

He drove the boat to the wider part of the river, up to the next lake where he remained in the middle until sunrise. He didn’t want to go back down the narrow part of the river for fear the creature might jump on the boat, or grab him as he sped by. For several hours he remained in the middle of the lake, shaking, and trying to talk himself out of what he had just witnessed.

When telling his story, the gentleman was overcome with emotion, and had to stop and begin several times. I cannot emphasize how passionately credible this man is in retelling this encounter some 20 years later.

Although, he only saw the creature for several seconds, he was able to give a detailed description of what he saw. What he saw, ‘is burned in my memory forever;”

-It was approx. 8+ feet tall. (He sits 10 feet up in his chair, and he was just slightly looking down to it.)

-It was more “Neanderthal” than ape or human-looking.

-Its dark brown body hair was darker than its “dark blond” facial hair.

-The shoulders were “as wide as a small pick-up truck.”

-There appeared to be no neck.

-There wasn’t much hair around the checks or eyes, but it seemed to have an 8 -10 inch beard.

-The head was not conical, but very large and oval.

-Facial skin was not black, but darker than tan, and “leathery looking, ruff-like.”

-There was a brow ridge.

-The hair was not tangled or matted.

- It had black eyes, and thin lips with a large mouth.

The witness continues to go out on Friday nights, but will not return to this particular place. He has agreed to take me out to this oak hammock during the day. I will update this report if need be.

Photo taken on this hammock in the swamp, to give you an idea of what the trees/woods look like in the area.

The St. Johns River Management Area that runs through three counties is remote and marshy, with many cypress and oak hammocks. Abundant wildlife exists here year round. Several BFRO reports are currently being investigated in or around this management area.

South American Bigfoot and Patagonian Giants

From Pearl Prihoda on Facebook:

And after I had added that one, I replied:
"Yes I saw that one before, very Bigfoot-y. I think I looked it over and finally decided it was like a Neanderthal, partly because of the big hands" This one is from Colombia, at the Northern end of South America, I think.
The Neanderthals actually did have rather outsized hands and feet for their size:

And then I was sent this independantly also on Facebook:

Check out this little article about the "Patagonian Giants", written about by both Ferdinand Magellan and Captain Cooke in their log books; Cooke claims to have captured a 9-foot specimen who burst free of his ropes and jumped overboard. Oddly, Patagonia was known as "Land of the Bigfoots" for a spell, there.
COINCIDENCE? YOU BE THE JUDGE!

Patagonian Giants  [link]
And I added as a reply:
There is an Abominable Snowman that leaves tracks up in the Andes and is well known for doing that: I have written about it on my blog before. But I tend to think the Patagonian Bigfoots are the same as our Eastern (North American) Bigfoots anyway. Some of the older accounts illustrate them as larger versions of European hairy Wild Men (Salvajes is the Spanish term, also used in South America). Oddly enough, that makes them possibly the same as the Basajaun.

More on Texas Bigfoot

http://voices.yahoo.com/baby-bigfoot-evidence-cast-prints-sasquatch-11342564.html?cat=58

This is one of my postings that kept disappearing when I was trying to post it. I have sent the request to author David Claer asking for permission to reprint these articles because our researches have tended to coincide and reinforce each other in other areas wheret overlap. I am going on ahead and reprinting here because I consider the evidence crucial in discussing the matter and because I am not only giving him all credit, I am also not gaining any financial profit by the reprinting and nor is anyone else. The H. heidelbergensis theory has incidentally been a strong contender since the 1990s in the literature at the time: but the feeling all along has been that it was a subspecies of Homo sapiens and the direct ancestor of the Neanderthals.

"Baby" Bigfoot Evidence- Cast Prints from a Sasquatch Toddler

Sasquatch Family Members Leave Hand- and Footprints in Texas Clay

David Claerr
, Yahoo! Contributor Network
The vast ecosystem formed by the Red River watershed on the borders of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana affords a habitat comprised of many micro-climates with an incredible diversity and richness of plant and animal life. In many of the deep ravines where the creeks and waterways have cut through the the limestone cap rock, the vegetation has a nearly tropical aspect. Towering, ancient cypress trees form a canopy above the underbrush and thick hanging vines. These ravines are like a primordial oasis, seldom traversed by humans. Often in remote wildernesses, surrounded by thousands of acres of temperate woodlands and meadows. The ravines are a favored living quarters for the Sasquatch or "Bigfoot"
From one of these ravines, a very significant group of footprints of a "Baby Bigfoot" were cast in plaster, along with a hand- and footprints from a more mature Sasquatch, most likely the juvenile's older sibling or mother. The prints, pressed into the fine clay of the creek bed are rare specimens, since not only are they from a rarely documented young juvenile, but the casts also retain detailed anatomical features that are not generally preserved in other types of soil.
A record of this type of evidence is necessary for a more in-depth understanding of these beings, who are the closest living relatives of humans, as current, in-depth DNA results are expected to reveal. The popular misconception of the Sasquatch is one of a savage "monster"- a giant ape with limited intelligence, motivated by sheer instinct. The Sasquatch are far more complex, intelligent and social creatures, with a family structure and long-term relationships within their extended families and network of friends- which in very rare instances can include humans.

The print casts are from a private collection, which I was given permission to examine and photograph. A few years prior to examining these casts, I had independently investigated the area where they were cast, and found abundant evidence of the Sasquatch in this region, as well as had confirmation by sightings. The owner of this collection and I had no previous knowledge of each other's activities and research.
The cast print of the "baby" is most likely from a juvenile that would be equivalent to a human "toddler" a young Sasquatch who has just begun to walk upright. This individual would be larger in stature than a human of similar relative maturity, standing about 3 and a half feet tall. The accompanying footprints are of an individual, most likely female, probably about 6 foot tall, small for an adult female and possibly indicating an older sibling.
The footprints have several distinguishing anatomical characteristics that differentiate them from human footprints. The most marked feature is the clearly delineated depression in the mid-foot on the outside edge opposite the arch. In a human foot, the bone structure in this area is rigid, and forms a continuous ridge from the ball of the foot to the heel. In the Sasquatch, the bone-joints and ligaments are flexible in the mid-tarsal region, which is evidenced in the resulting depression in the footprints. The mid-tarsal "break" as it is often referred to, enables the Sasquatch or Bigfoot to flex the foot and walk on the fore-foot.
The ability to walk and run on the forefoot is an adaptation that affords increased mechanical leverage to the stride of the Sasquatch. In other prints that I have examined, as well as these, there are distinctly visible elements in the configuration of bone structure, tendons and musculature of the foot that reveal the bio-mechanical mechanism operating in the Sasquatch foot. (For more, related information, refer to the links to articles listed in the Resources section below.)
The Sasquatch trait of displacing the weight to the forefoot results in other notable configurations in the bone structure of the foot. The foot of the Sasquatch is significantly broader across the ball of the foot in comparison to human proportions. Both of the cast footprints show not only the broad forefoot, but areas where the bone joints, the overlaying tissue pads and the calloused skin itself combine to form enlarged prominences in the prints.

On the outside edge of the foot, in the bones supporting the "little" toe, (the fifth metatarsal, just above the mid-tarsal flexion) there is an enlarged bone prominence, thickened tissue pad, and thickly calloused skin. (Sasquatch also have an enlarged os perenium - a small oviod bone that only about 20% of modern humans possess, at the posterior end of the fifth metatarsal. It functions as a stress- and pressure-bearing reinforcement to the tendon.)
On the opposite side of the forefoot, in the bones supporting the "big" toe, there is also an enlarged bone prominence, tissue pad and calloused area. (In this location, there are also two small ovoid bones, present in both humans and in the Sasquatch- the sesamoid bones-, which are connected only by tendons to the big toe. These bones are proportionately much larger in the foot of the Sasquatch- evidence of the increased weight distribution to the forefoot during ambulation.)
Another element in the developmental anatomy of the Sasquatch that can be deduced from these prints in comparison to those of adults, is that the tapering profile of the foot from ball to heel indicates a progression to increased bipedalism from juvenile to adult. In the toddler, the heel is smaller and narrower, indicating more of a reliance on quadrupedal locomotion- crawling or scampering on four limbs. In fact, in large adult males, the bones of the heels (calcaneus) become very robust. In examining both cast and actual footprints in the field, I have noted there there is a discernible difference between male and female Sasquatch footprints. As with humans, Sasquatch are dimorphic- that is, males and females are different in general size and shape. Both the hands and feet of a female Sasquatch are more slender, or narrower in proportion of width to length.
In the cast prints of the "Baby Bigfoot" there are also rarely documented fine anatomical details that mitigate against fraudulence. In the cast print picture above, there are clearly defined pressure ridges, mainly across the forefoot. These ridges are basically a rumpling of the outer layers of tissue and skin on the sole of the foot, formed as the foot flexes. In a series of actual footprints, the pressure ridges will change in size, shape and number, whereas in hoaxed prints, there are either no pressure ridges, or they remain identical from print to print. ( In fact in most prints, the soil consistency does not retain impressions of the pressure ridges.)
A very significant element in this series of prints are the finely detailed dermal ridge patterns. Dermal ridges, also referred to as "friction" ridges, are the pattern of whorls or spiraling ridges that form the familiar "fingerprint" signature on hands and correspondingly, on toes of both humans and Sasquatch. ( In this case the dermal ridges pictured are from the print series of the more mature Sasquatch.) In the cast prints that I examined that have distinct dermal ridge patterns, the patterns have a very close correlation to human dermal ridge patterns, as seen in the pictured comparisons.
One of the cast prints, pictured above is an even rarer specimen- it is the hand print from a sub-adult Sasquatch, possibly from the same individual that left the larger of the two footprints. The hand-print has many of the same characteristics as those seen in the cast hand-print of a much larger adult male. (Refer to the link in the resources section below for the article with that analysis.) The Sasquatch hand is typically broader in proportion to that of a human, and the individual bones are both flatter and straighter compared to a human's. The thumb is more widely offset. The main muscle groups in the hand are larger and more robust proportionately, as well. The palm of the hand is flatter, with typically thick, callused skin.
In concluding this article, I would like to take the opportunity to comment on the nature of the Sasquatch. Evidence such as these footprints, as well as field observation by many researchers, indicate they they are beings with an emotional and intellectual capacity very close to those of human beings. They have close-knit families that love, nurture and care for their young. They have the ability to speak and converse, not only with each other, but also with humans. They are long-lived and well traveled throughout wilderness areas and traditional territories that are now being encroached upon by humankind. In light of these revelations, I am an advocate of the no-kill policy in regards to the Sasquatch or Bigfoot. The slaughter of one of these beings, with this type of fore-knowledge, would be an unconscionable act. The Sasquatch are very likely in the lineage ancestral to modern humans, and the killing of one, while aware of their true nature, would be ethically equivalent to the killing of one of our own fellow humans. [I emphatically agree-DD]

David Lewis Carver We had baby prints where the little tike was clearly being held by mother and she let  Him/her down. Pretty cool

I found a nice 8 or 9 inch print 4 years ago at Salt Fork State Park in Ohio. Wasn't sure if it was human or not. I thought about casting it but didn't. I did take about 6 pictures of it. I had Dr. Esteban Sarmiento look at the pics and he ...thought it could be a juvy Squatch print. There are plenty of adult print cast in the 13 inch and up size. We need more examples of juvenile Squatch prints for study and comparison. I do have 4 castings of 9 inch prints I found. Sarmiento and Meldrum both looked at these and said they were human. I don't think they are because of all the other evidence and circumstances surrounding them.

  • Dale Drinnon That sounds like a good range of track sizes. And I think there are others that have said that some of the tracks start out as more human-like when small and young but less human-like as large and adult
  • Bob Durdella
When Dr Meldrum looked at my 4 print cast and said they were human he did say that there was a possibility they were juvy Squatch prints and that maybe they change in time as the Squatch matures. He said we don't know right now. He said the... same thing about some castings made by Jaime Avalos on one of the Monster Quest episodes featuring Jaime. This is why there is a need for more juvy Squatch print castings and pics. I look at and study every picture and casting that are posted of alleged juvy Squatch prints
  • Dale Drinnon I'm throwing my blog together now. Mind if I quote you on that?

Photographs and Comprehensive Analysis of the Bigfoot or Sasquatch Hand from Plaster Cast

[All original work, photographs and drawings are copyrighted by David Claerr: I shall add one of my own additionally at the end because it amplifies the others in a different way]

Dale D's addition: comparison of a Texas Bigfoot handprint to a Neanderthal hand skeleton, which appears to have much the same bony structure. I would imagine the Texas Bigfoot to be in the range of 7-7 1/2 feet tall by this comparison.

In the dense woodlands of northeast Texas, near the town of Paris, there have been many recent reports of sightings of large, hairy, creatures that match descriptions of Bigfoot or the Sasquatch of the Pacific Northwest. Evidence of the creature's presence has been accumulating, including a few excellent plaster casts of its footprints. However, distinct hand-prints from any region are relatively rare, and the subject of this article is one of the best cast hand-prints on record to date. (Note that the images and diagrams can also be viewed in a convenient slide-show format by clicking on this link.)
The cast hand-print is from a collection made by the late Mike Sells, who lived in the Paris area. (Mike passed away in 2008). I was given permission to closely examine and photograph the casts when they were on display at the first annual Bigfoot Festival in Lamar, Point, Texas on Nov. 7th, 2009. The collection was on loan from Mike's wife, Sandy, and it included several cast footprints and hand-prints, ranging from big males to females and small juveniles. Mike was an ardent outdoorsman who discovered evidence of the creatures on numerous occasions while exploring the woodlands, and while searching for Native American artifacts.
The impression of the hand-print was made in sandy soil. The granular sand did not pick up fine detail, such as dermal ridges or finger-print whorls. However, the general contours of the hand, including the creases in the palm (also referred to as "life lines" in palmistry) are fairly distinct. Embedded in the cast is a peach pit.(The area around Paris is noted for its peach orchards, and there are many individual trees growing wild.) The pit is about 1 & 1/4 inches long, so it can be used as a scale.
The hand-print is about 12 & 1/2 inches long, which would indicate a creature about 9 to 10 feet tall, based on the ratios used for humans [In Bigfoot the hands and feet are remarked upon as being proportionately outsized-DD].Using the biometric calculations used for estimating human weight, the creature would weigh from 500-600 pounds if the body type was within the "normal" range, and would likely be considerably heavier, assuming a very heavy-boned and muscular being.
Despite the obvious similarity to a human hand, the cast print shows some notable differences in its configuration. First is the enormous size, which is nearly double the length of an average human hand, with a surface area about three times the size of a human's. The bone structure, which can be traced by the prominences or bulges at the joints, indicates bones which are more massive and blocky, with less curvature along the length than those of a human.
The palm is larger in proportion to the fingers than that of a human, and has elongated metacarpal bones connected to the little finger and "ring" finger, which make the palm considerably more square than a human hand. The little and ring fingers are also proportionately longer and thicker than a human's. The thumb is splayed at a larger angle and is also comparatively more robust than that of a human. The massive bone structure indicates a creature with tremendous grasping power.
The relative flatness of the palm, and the uniformity of the impression indicate thick, callused skin on the palm and fingers, due to frequent, habitual contact with rough surfaces and the lifting of heavy objects. There is a notably robust development evident in the main muscles of the hand, namely the pollicis group along the metacarpal of the thumb, and the digiti minimi group along the metacarpal of the little finger. These muscles are proportionally larger and wider by comparison to a human hand. The bio-mechanical configuration of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch hand would enable it to apply enormous pressure and torque on any object in its grasp.
The dimensions of the cast Bigfoot hand-print indicate an individual whose size almost exactly matches that indicated by another specimen that I examined, an excellent cast Bigfoot footprint from the Paris area. The footprint, impressed into soft clay, has fine detail of dermal ridges, stress creases, and skin-folds at the joints as well as other anatomical features. The analytical article, photographs and diagrams can be found at this link.
As a related note of interest, Mike Sells was featured in the movie "Bigfoot Lives" produced by Searching For Bigfoot Inc. "Bigfoot Lives" chronicles the research efforts of the SFBI team, headed by the renowned Tom Biscardi. The Searching for Bigfoot website link can be found listed in the Resources section below. [Unfortunately Tom Biscardi has subsequently become discredited-which does not reflect upon Mike Sells, David Claerr or anybody else in the business-DD]

-In this case although I think it is a perfectly legitimate cast, I feel the footprint shows a great deal of skidding at the heel and a curling of the toes which appear shorter and bunched up as a consequence.  Note the oddly turned-out little toe [specified in some Asiatic Almas tracks].
